Calling the Kettle Black; Who Has Killed More, Islam or Christianity?

By Francis Nye

Holy Facepalm
Failure so epic, that even
Jesus can't bare to look.
Terry Jones, the pastor from Gainesville, Florida makes the claim that Islam and its holy book, the Qur’an is an, "instruments of violence, death and terrorism." But one could argue that his religion, Christianity is just as dangerous as Islam.

This pastor, who burst back into the news last week when his burning of the Qur'an led to deadly riots in Afghanistan, says that he does not regret his actions, and that he will move forward with plans to stage an anti-Islam protest outside the largest mosque in the United States, which is located in Dearborn, Michigan. He says that he's gotten hundreds of death threats, but that he would die for his belief that the Qur'an and Islam are instruments of violence.

Disturbingly, Jones says that he's only read parts of the Qur'an. This is clearly a bigoted mission by a man who knows little about the religion that he's persecuting and less about his own religion.

The reason I say he knows less about his own religion is because Christianity has as much or more blood on its hands than does Islam. Christianity has killed or maimed more people than the so-called “Atheist” regimes of Hitler and Stalin combined. The numbers are in the millions. That right I used the “M” word; millions. By the way; there is a large amount of evidence that points to Hitler being a Christian and not an Atheist but that is a topic for another post.

It is shocking the millions that have been butchered by the followers of Christ. Christ the Redeemer, the Lamb of God, the Savior of the World, etc. His devotees of peace and generosity have demonstrated anything but.

Some people I have talk to argue that this is because of a relatively few bad apples within the faith. That Christianity as a whole is a force for good. All I have to say is, really? It takes a lot of participants to kill millions of people. And this butchery is not just confined to a small period of time but has gone on since the very inception of the faith. As soon as Christianity became legal in the Roman Empire by imperial edict 315 CE, pagan temples were destroyed by Christian mobs. Pagan priests were put to the sword and untold innocents were raped just because they worshipped a different deity. Before that time it is interesting to point out that religious tolerance was the norm. It wasn’t until the advent of Christianity that religious intolerance began to raise its ugly head.

In another more recent example in 1994 in the small African country of Rwanda in just a few months several hundred thousand civilians were butchered, apparently a conflict of the Hutu and Tutsi ethnic groups. What is shocking is the Catholic clergy was actively involved in the 1994 Rwanda massacres. That’s not all. What’s odd is the denials of the involvement that were printed in Catholic Church journals, before anybody had openly accused members of the church or any wrong doing.

A Religion Kills Tag
In yet another recent conflict between 1992 and 1995 in the Bosnian War in Europe the Christian Serbs systematically killed the Bosnian Muslims in what is nothing short of a religious genocide. The ethnic cleansing campaign that took place throughout areas controlled by the Bosnian Serb Army targeted Bosnian Muslims and Bosnian Croats. The ethnic cleansing campaign included unlawful confinement, murder, rape, sexual assault, torture, beating, robbery and inhumane treatment of civilians; the targeting of political leaders, intellectuals and professionals; the unlawful deportation and transfer of civilians; the unlawful shelling of civilians; the unlawful appropriation and plunder of real and personal property; the destruction of homes and businesses; and the destruction of places of worship. All this from members of a religion that espouses peace and compassion for all. Really! Really! It appears that Christianity wrote the book on religious intolerance and has perfected the art of killing in the name of God. For all those that say Christianity is a force for good, I just laugh.

In truth how anyone can be a part of either faith, Christian or Islam is just mind boggling to me. But I presume it comes from lack of understanding of history and being duped by the leaders of these “hostile” faiths. Jones is just one of the many personalities that come to you with honeyed words of love but whose actions are venomous and have serious repercussions.

The simple act of the burning of the Qur'an has touched off a firestorm of retaliation throughout the Middle East that has put American service men and women at risk. It doesn’t take a genius to see that this would be the outcome of such a stupid and senseless act. He accomplished nothing but fanning the flames of hatred. Jones is obviously a few pews short of a church or he just didn’t care about the fallout of this actions.

Bottom line - Jones the “pot” in this drama should not be calling the kettle black. His religion has killed more people than Islam. I will say this however; it is not from Islam’s lack of trying. God knows they are just as dedicated to killing as the Christians. I believe the only reason Jones’ religion has killed more is because it had a 622 year head start over Islam. Ω TRT

If you want to see a historical list of crimes against humanity that can be squarely placed at the feet of Christians over the centuries go to the following link: http://articles.exchristian.net/2002/10/how-many-people-have-been-killed-by.php This is by no means an all inclusive list either.
